The head coach is responsible for administering all aspects of a competitive esports program, adhering to the guidelines and expectations that are set forth from Illinois College. In addition to the day-to-day coaching, the Head Esports Coach is responsible for the organization of scheduling, budget, travel coordination, game day staff management, equipment management, camps, and fundraising. In addition to these responsibilities, the Head Esports Coach is expected to meet recruiting and retention goals.

Recruit, retain and graduate successful student-athletes
Meet the recruitment, retention and net tuition revenue goals set by the College
Plan season competition schedule, coordinate travel, plan and conduct practices
Ensure academic performance and personal development of student-athletes
Collaborate with Early Intervention group
Maintain a high level of professionalism on and off the field toward student athletes, other coaches, parents, administrators, and members of the community
Monitor and manage the esports budget and program resources
Coordinate fundraising with Development and Alumni Affairs; Manage fundraising account
Maintain a clear understanding and adhere to the Midwest Esports bylaws
Additional administrative responsibilities will be assigned at the discretion of the Director of Athletics
Conduct campus-wide programming to engage casual gamers and increases exposure to responsible gaming. Act as an esports ambassador to the campus and area community.
Develop and operate esports camps and outreach opportunities
Respond to developing changes and best practices in the gaming community in this rapidly growing sport.
Expand the visibility of the program nationally and internationally to meet the vision of Illinois College.
Bachelors degree required
Experience coaching or professional level gaming with League of Legends required
Minimum of two years collegiate coaching experience, preferred
Professional/High Level gaming in League of Legends, preferred
Intercultural competency: ability to work with individual from diverse backgrounds
Skills and experience coaching and team motivation
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a goaloriented strategic thinker
Passion and motivation to recruit student-athletes
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Possess an outcomes-oriented approach to coaching
Professional integrity and a positive approach to conflict management/resolution
Ability to work weekdays, weekends, and some evenings
Valid drivers license with evidence of insurability, required
