The Recreational Sports Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire an Esports Graduate Assistant to join our team. The Graduate Assistant will be afforded a variety of experiences within the Esports Program.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  1. Assist with the daily operations of the varsity esports program, including practices, matches, team meetings, and community engagement on our public discord channel.
  2. Assist with major events and tournaments as needed.
  3. Develop and implement a volunteer coach training program that focuses on communication, conflict resolution, practice organization, etc.
  4. Assist in the evaluation of volunteer coaches, tryouts for the program, and the hiring process for student program managers.
  5. Assist in the recruitment and development of volunteer coaches and players. This includes written evaluations and in-person meetings.
  6. Collect and analyze various metrics from team practices and competitions to help drive decision making and policy creation.
  7. Assist with development of policies and procedures for the varsity esports program.
  8. Resolve conflict between players, coaches and staff.
  9. Work at least 20 hours per week with the Varsity Esports Program.
  10. Other duties as assigned by the Esports Coordinator.

 

Qualifications:

  1. A bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Kinesiology, Health Promotion or related field.
  2. Experience or general knowledge in esports competition, management, supervising employees, training employees, or related area of esports.
  3. Experience in managing a team or personal Discord channel.
  4. Acceptance and admittance into the University of North Texas graduate School, as a full time (9 hours or more) graduate student in Sports Psychology, Sports Management, Kinesiology, or related field of study.
  5. Strong planning and organizational skills.
  6. Strong communication skills.
  7. Experience in research and data collection and reporting.

Additional Salary Information:

  1. This is a 9-month appointment, with the possibility of a second year appointment.
  2. The initial 9-month appointment is from August 12, 2020 to May 31, 2021.
  3. Salary: $1,424.22 per month for the first 9-month appointment and the potential of $1,675.66 for the second 9-month appointment.
